Claire's Trip to the Land of Oz

In July, Claire traveled to Australia to present a paper at the WorldCALL Conference at the University of Melbourne.

She stayed at Ormond College, one of the residence halls at "Melbourne Uni," as it is called locally. Some of the buildings date from 1879.

Every morning she had breakfast in Ormond's magnificent dining hall.

Here is the fireplace in the dining hall.

One of the highlights of the conference was getting to meet the WorldCALL scholarship recipients, all active language professionals and dedicated CALL practitioners. (Claire had chaired the Scholarship Committee.)

A bit of sightseeing: Mex took Claire to the Meat Market. The bulding is now a marketplace for crafts of all types.
