Once again, a beautiful view of the Mediterranean and the Corniche from the Hotel Cecil.

Randa Effat, Technology Specialist for the project, with her ubiquitous mobile phone!

Skyline of Alexandria

View of the harbor from the Faculty Club.
The Cecil Hotel can be seen in the center.

Pompey's Pillar, among the last remaining Roman ruins in Alexandria

The main library at Alexandria was destroyed, but there are vestiges of a branch "daughter library" in the southern part of the city. Here the guide is pointing out to friend Aleya Said the niches where the papyrus scrolls were stored.

Above the papyrus cubbyholes can be seen blackened areas where there is smoke from the torches that were used to facilitate reading.

Roman cistern near Pompey's pillar

Entrance to the "nilometer," which was built by the Romans and was used to measure the height of the Nile River during flood season

View of Fort Quaitbay, from the marvelous view on Randa's balcony!

Indelible memory!

Before returning to the States, she visited the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Photographs are not allowed there, but suffice it to say that the museum is superb!
