Mission Statement
The course aims at providing pre-service teachers in the third year in the faculty of Education with the necessary knowledge and skills for teaching EFL in the Egyptian context. It also aims at training prospective teachers to be reflective teachers who are responsible for their own professional development.
Curriculum Philosophy
In order to achieve this, the course is designed to have two interrelated components: The methods part and the teaching practice part. In the method part student teachers (STs) are introduced to the different theories underlying teaching and learning EFL they also get training to develop their teaching skills. Approaches and methods
- An eclectic approach is adopted in which the input of both teacher trainer and learner is valued.
- Ministry of Education supervisors hold conferences to help ST reflect on their teaching practice experience.
Teachers Roles
The teacher trainer is an instructor, a facilitator, an active participant, and a consultant.
Student Roles STs are active participants who are responsible for their learning and development. Examples of activities STs are responsible for: group work, presentation, discussions, reports, microteaching, classroom teaching, classroom observations, lesson plans, reflective journals and action research. Course Description
By the end of this course, Student Teachers (STs) in the third year will be able to:
