Mission Statement:
This course is meant for second year student teachers whose English proficiency levels range from lower to upper inter mediate. The course aims at enhancing the students skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening to help them become more accurate and fluent in using the language in order to cope with the demanding literature courses and to become more proficient teachers after graduation.
Curriculum Philosophy:
The curriculum is built on the premise of students self-directed, interactive and communicative learning. Through out the course the teachers role will be that of a facilitator and a moderator but hardly ever a lecturer.

- Identify different intonation patterns

Speaking
- Make debates and hold discussions
- Prepare and present formal and informal presentations
- Produce grammar structures correctly in spoken language
Reading
- Read for specific details
- Read for main ideas
- Read critically
- Distinguish between fact and opinion
- Distinguish between fiction and non-fiction genres
- Guess meaning of words from context
- Make inferences and predictions
Writing
- Edit for language mechanics using Microsoft Word
- Write email messages
- Outline ideas coherently
- Chat using a chatting tool
N.B. This is a 36-hour course which stretches across two semester of 18 hours each. All CALL activities will revolve around two themes across the 2 semesters: Culture and Humor.
